Designing for trust in finance

When you are asking someone to trust you with their money, brand stops being marketing and becomes infrastructure. Every pixel either builds confidence or erodes it.

Trust in finance is built through coherence. When the app, the website, the statement and the support email all feel like one considered whole, people relax. Inconsistency reads as carelessness — and carelessness with a brand implies carelessness with money.

The paradox of challenger finance is that you must feel both exciting and safe. Too playful and you are a toy. Too corporate and you are the incumbent you set out to disrupt.

The resolution is craft and clarity. Confidence does not come from looking flashy. It comes from looking like you have thought of everything — because you have.
